We Found Love (In a Hopeless Place)

Recently Vevo had a video battle to choose which Rihanna music video is the best. This is a horrible thing to do. It was basically like the Hunger Games. How can I choose? How, Vevo? Because I have three favorite videos of Rihanna's. That's a lie. Almost all of her videos are amazing. All of them are definitely very detailed and well thought out. My favorite is probably (drumsratatatatatatathisisadrumroll)

We Found Love! I just thought it was such a beautiful video. I was very moved. I like how it wasn't really a sunshine and rainbows video. Love often seems to be gritty and horrible most of the time. The filming is also really beautiful. I like how everything isn't glossed over a lot, and I like the use of flashing lights and designs to express emotion as well.

It is kind of hazily filmed though, but I think that contributes to the feeling of being dragged under and the drug use that Rihanna and her team are going for.

Look. Drug use.

And you see here? Their love is not puppies and rainbows. It's selfish and it's painful, and they can't seem to get away from each other.

Note the distinct lack of puppies.

Her outfits are very cute, and they do a lot of cute things together, but the video also shows the fights and what is tearing them apart. The song seems really meaningless and upbeat when you first listen to it, but I think the video really helps show that it's a much deeper song.

And this is how Rihanna will look if you don't watch that video. Do it.
